Welcome to my blog. My concentration series is based on animal neglect and cruelty. The principles of design I use are value and contrast, scale, space, rule of thirds, and texture. The personal connection I have towards this is very strong because I have two dogs, and both of them are rescues. My first dog was found neglected on the streets of Washington, and my second one was not only neglected, but abused as well. Overall I hope you enjoy my series!

Week Two
This week I improved on the lighting of my pictures. Last week there was a lot of gray, but this week I fixed it. I used the same light source, except this time I turned off all the lights around me. The dogs expressions also seem to appear tired and lonely. Another good thing is that I managed to take another picture of my white dog even though she is terrified of the camera! Overall I think the pictures are a lot better than last weeks.

These are much stronger in terms of lighting. You definitely captured a lot of expression in these as well. I would love to see some environmental shots now that you've master the close up images of your dogs. Photos of cages and other negative environments will add more to the story in your series.
ReplyDeleteIn this group of pictures the message of animal abuse is very clear. The cloudy area in the darker dog's eye really has that "abuse" theme to it. while looking at these photos I do feel empathy for these animals and feel somewhat sad for them.
ReplyDeleteI really love your photos! They are really cute, but they make me feel sad. I like the mood that the photos have and you really did capture a lot of expression.
ReplyDeleteI really like how your pictures show so much emotion. The value and contrast make that emotion "pop" out to the people looking at your picutres. I like the first picture a lot, just showing half of the face of the dog, it seems like the dog is trying to say something, but it can't.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so perfect for your theme! The black white works great with your theme! Also the macro images are some of my favorite, I think you should use more of them.
ReplyDeleteI like how the expresion of the white dog's face fits well with your concentration series. The mood and tone are instantly recognizable. The black and white helps with the mood also.
